Join Kelly Fernandez, Head Gardener of the Herb & Shakespeare Garden, and garden docents at the Huntington for a guided multi-sensory tour of the Herb Garden.
Throughout history, plants have been the main source of medicines. Today over 80% of the world’s population still use some form of herbal medicine in their healthcare and they remain one of the main components in the production of modern drugs.
The Herb garden is a bio-diverse collection of useful plants. Reminiscent of a renaissance design, the Herb garden focuses on four categories of use: culinary, cosmetic, medicinal, and dye and fiber. Join us for a fun, casual, and hands-on tour!
Please note: These small group tours will focus on the botanical aspects of the plants and unfortunately the docents won’t be able answer medical questions.
You can also join a free curator led tour through the history of medicine exhibition at The Huntington immediately before this. Find out more and sign-up here.
